Hello all.
Right then, I didn't want it to come to this, but due to some massive changes at home, my really rather lovely 1995 Peugeot 605 SRTi has to go. I've owned this car for a little under three months and I've loved every minute of it. However, with family moving away and money becoming ever more tight, I need to put my diesel car back on the road to save pennies and enjoy 50+ for each gallon of fuel I buy.
So, there she is. Pretty, eh?
The car -
MOT - March 2014
Tax - October 2013
History - pretty much full, loads of invoices and stamps.
Owners - I'm the third registered keeper
Extras - tow bar, remote central locking, functions factory-fit key pad immobiliser, factory tape head unit, three keys.
It's a Peugeot 605 with the 2.0 8V turbocharged petrol engine. If this were a Citroen, the engine would go by the name of CT (constant torque). It's got 145bhp, but you only really notice it when you're at speed. According to howmanyleft.com there are only three surviving SRTi's in the UK, presumably most of what was a rare car to begin with have died due to their engines being fitted into more desirable Peugeots.
The engine -
Like I said, it's the 2.0 8V turbocharged petrol with approx 124k on it (I'm using it daily, so that will change). It drives like a champ. On the very rare occasions I have booted it, it's pulled like a train. Though to be honest, I drive like an old man so it very rarely gets any heavy treatment. It uses no oil, it stays cool, it's quiet, smooth and refined. However, being a big car with a turbo, the economy isn't fantastic. Anticipate high 20s around town and low 30s on a run. Drive it over 75mph and you'll soon need to stop got fuel. Finally, in the interest of honesty, the idle 'pulses'. I've cleaned out the ICV but it still does it. It's nothing major, it's always done it and it's not gotten any worse.
The body -
It's an old car, so it has the odd stone chip. There's also a barely noticeable crease on the n/s/r door's lower flank. I only noticed it a week ago. Other than that, it's stunning. The red really comes up with a wash and it looks incredible. If you were so inclined, I think it would look amazing with a decent clay and polish. it's also wearing its original hubcaps, though they are a little scratched in places.
The interior -
Mint. Actually, not-internet-car-sales-hyperbole MINT. Full velour cloth, electric windows and sunroof, rear armrest, mint dash, factory head-unit (which, for 1995, is pretty damn swish) and a full set of Peugeot mats. It's a lovely, quiet, comfortable, comfy place to be. Maybe I'm excited as I've never owned a French car before, but trust me, it's a wonderful place to be.
The drive -
For a big old girl she's a treat to drive. Okay, it's not a 205 GTi, but still, you can throw it around the lanes and it'll grip like a good-un. It's really satisfying to have such a large vehicle with such great road holding. When the car was new, it was praised on this fact, and even though the humble SRTi doesn't have the fancy electronic suspension of the V6 models, it still rides incredibly well.
The negatives -
Look, it's an old car with 124k on the clock, so it's going to have some minor issues. So...
1) There's a clunk coming from the back under acceleration. It's done it since the day I picked it up and it's not changed. I have no idea what it is, as I've looked at everything. It's an annoyance more than a concern.
2) The electric sunroof VERY RARELY gets a bit temperamental. Just keep jabbing the button, it eventually comes round.
3) The slightly lumpy idle as listed above.
4) O/S/F fog-light is cracked. It's still intact and it still functions. More an aesthetic thing.
The Price -
£525, firm. Yes, some of you may point out that I paid £490 for it, but I've also had to re-tax it. I bought it with six month's tax, but the past owner paid with a rubber cheque, so I had to fork out and do it again. That was £125. It's now full, legally, paid-with-cash taxed for the next five-and-a-half months. £450 - IT NEEDS TO GO.

Any questions or viewings, don't hesitate to ask. The car is located in Berkeley, Gloucestershire.
I'll give it a clean tomorrow and get some more pics up of how it currently stands, thoguh it's very much the same as what you see here.
