Mk2 is on the bulkhead near the strut top with a red rubber cover

I'm guessing Mr BR is talking about the fuel cut off ? theory being that in a crash, the inertia of the impact trips a relay to cut off the fuel pump. Usually theres a little button in the engine bay somewhere to reset it.

Mk1 clios have a habit of blowing the fuel pump fuse due to the inlet manifold heater shorting out.this is under the manifold and can be disconnected permanently. don't know if this is your problem?

The car won't start not been in a crash. Turns over but nothing! Looks like it could be the distributor cap and rotor arm as power is going into the cap but no spark. Just trying to cover all angles

Can you hear the fuel pump priming? is there fuel pressure? (crack a fuel line and turn on the ign) ?

It's getting fuel ok I think if you bridge the circuit on the solenoid the pump fires petrol out the pipe. I am sure u used to hear that sounded like the pump priming as the pump is in the tank but now u cant hear that.
