Hi, i have a rickman kit car that is based on the mk2 escort, but with a 2 liter ford engine, as the heater was never plummed in, does the heater hose off the engine water pump go to the top or bottom, of the heater box, or does it not matter, jd

On my X/flow engined Ranger, the heater hose from the pump goes to the bottom connector on the heater,(after a good flush out heater now works OK with no airlock). The hot water comes from the manifold connector into the top heater connector, flows through the heater matrix & back through the water pump. I would assume the Pinto would be the same way round. On my X/flow engined Ranger, the hose from the pump fits the bottom heater connector, so the flow from the engine manifold feeds the top of the heater, presumably to stop air locks in the heater matrix. Should be the same for a Pinto engine. John
