EQUIPMENT
Roland Garros badge on tailgate, Roland Garros Paris decal on front wing, body colour bumpers, twin bodyside tapes in white, Pininfarina side badge, electric hood, tinted glass, laminated windscreen, front driving lamps, courtesy lamp, electric front windows, central door and tailgate locking, Clarion digital stereo radio/cassette (97001 E), sunvisors with passenger vanity mirror, internally adjustable door mirrors.
EXTERIOR
This top of the range and Limited Edition Roland Garros 205 Cabriolet is finished in its original unpainted colour of Pinewood Green and has a wonderful glossy bright shine. All the distinguishing correct badging and decals remain perfectly intact. There is absolutely no rust or corrosion. Approximately six tiny dings are evident, three of which are on the offside wing and one on the tailgate. The electric white hood operates faultlessly and is still the original factory item so shows signs of age with minor cracking. A rear GB sticker covers a perished area on the hood but it is still presentable and water tight. All the plastic trim is unmarked and there are no bumper scrapes or scuffs. A remarkably well preserved and original example.
INTERIOR
Having lived with its owners at their holiday home in the South of France for most of its life, top down use and exposure to sun has taken its toll on the white leather boarders of the sports seats with cracking and wear. The drivers bolster cannot be restored but the other seats are saveable should the new owner wish to show the car. The striped cloth seat inserts are in good order and front seat covers, (still with the car), have been fitted for the last five years to prevent further wear. The unique Roland Garros carpet mats with white edging are still fitted and protect the clean grey carpeting. There is a small tear to the carpet in the drivers footwell. The Roland Garros three spoke steering wheel and matching door cards help separate this from other lower specified models. All the gauges, digital clock and switch gear operate perfectly. The original Clarion cassette player works excellently. A condition three interior.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fabulous, fun and spirited this 1360cc engine produces 85bhp and is a real delight to drive. Transistorised breakerless ignition ensures simple maintenance and excellent parts availability keeps running costs to a minimum. Brilliant fuel economy quoted at 54.3mpg at a constant 56mph again allows regular use with budget running costs. The 5-speed gearbox has benefitted from a new clutch in the last 100 miles so it is light and precise.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Perfect unmarked alloy wheels fitted to separate the Roland Garros model still adorn the car are shod in new front tyres and with good tread on the rear. The split circuit servo-assisted brakes, front disc and rear drum offer assured stopping power.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied by Peugeot Main Dealers W.J. Wells Ltd in Essex on the 14th November 1990 this vehicle remained with its first owner, Mr Faulumer until 1996 and 15,247 miles before being purchased by a Professor Richards as a recreational car for his holiday home in the South of France. Used sparingly by him and his wife it returned to the UK in May 2010 and continued to be garaged while at his UK residence. The V5 has the Professor listed as the previous keeper and registered keeper due to an error on his behalf. Now having covered only 64,944 miles with comprehensive service history, (French history between 1996 and 2010), it offers wonderful 205 Cabriolet fun.
All the handbooks contained in the black A5 folder remain with the car including a stamped service book up to 1996 and numerous invoices after this point.
