Hi, ask the owner if it is a late PANACHE, if it is about 70 were made, you would need a lot of money to get it looking like a lambo, plus being left hand drive, would knock your insurance up by at least 2/3 groups, knock the door and ask him what is he doing with the old kit car and if he is intrested in ever selling it that you may be intrested in it, leave him your number and ask him to think off a price then you have some thing to work off, but if it has no dock,s you will need a sva report.

These Countach’s seem to go from about £50-60,000 upwards as far as I can tell, up to well into six figures for an early example in good condition. Maybe contact Bonhams and see what they say?

If the engine code is 'AS' then it's a 1600, it is a twin port so could well be either a 1300 or 1600. As Speedtriple said being a left hooker isn't ideal, looking at the interior I'd say it was never put through an SVA (unless the guy who built it wanted the 'ply board' look. Bit of a Marmite vehicle to be honest, some like 'em & some don't. I drove a Bug based 911 many years ago and the build quality was uber sh*te & the whole thing creaked and shook constantly, seen no end of dodgy Wizard builds that are the same. Obviously without seeing it close up I won't say one way of the other, what year is it? Any reg with it at all? The donor Bug should have had a V5 that could be used. Assuming it's got a reg plate and the pan is reasonable & the engine isn't seized/has no float I'd say you might see £600 - £900 for it purely because the market isn't massive for them & as the build isn't finished it might need work re-doing. Could make an interesting project for someone, fleabay would get an audience but attracts time wasters like sh*t attracts flies. Personally I'd roll in it but I'd want to rebuild it to know everything was sound & for the potential hidden costs I'd rather do a Bug again & know I'd have a larger audience if/when it came to move it on.
Is it yours/a friends/neighbours?

Cool beans. That's our funding secured, we shall give Bonhams a tinkle then ;D Thanks for all the replies, some good info there. Our current situation is that it's in our possession, currently on one of our mans driveway as we have no space in the workshop at the minute. We're a charity based motor project (more info here>>> www.archwayproject.org/) and this Shamborghini has been given to us by it's previous owner. I'm of course all up for keeping it and using it as some sort of on going project though it seems I'm in the minority of one here so it may get sold on. The base is a 71 Beetle and was imported back in 82, we have the HM Customs receipt for this. The only other doc is a half completed application form for first license and declaration for registration which states it as having the 1600 lump. I'll get our man to check the engine codes for further ID and double check the chassis number too. That's how it stands at present, I'll keep you all posted on how it develops. Thanks again.

Could it not be worth more in bits? Tax exempt chassis, wheels, engine & a lambo kit car?
