According to Jalopnik, there's not a lot of back story on this yet, though it's been suggested that the guys with the car were the same guys who did the 'Rally' Rolls Royce video recently.
Going off the chatter that can be heard in the video, the poor old thing just started smoking and then the next thing you know, it was engulfed in flames.
Poor car.

What a sad way for a beautiful car to end it's days!
Must have been extremely frustrating hearing the sirens but knowing the tender couldn't get through cos everyone had parked up with no room to manouvre

I can't begin to imagine how heartbreaking that would be as the owner.

Poor car!
Wasn't that a known problem, I mean, bursting into flames?

The wiring is notoriously bad and caused many fires back in the day. Restored Miuras are alright now but this SV could well not have been.

Very sad to see that Is obstructing emergency services through stupidity (rather than intention) a bookable offence? If it isn't it really should be, and if it is, it needs to be enforced more strictly. The amount of idiots I see not wanting to bump their posh new car up a curb to get out of the way of an ambulance/fire engine makes me very angry sometimes, as well as the people just not paying attention or doing a really bad job of getting out of the way.

Poor car! Wasn't that a known problem, I mean, bursting into flames? Not sure but i think they were well known for trying to take off at high speed What a sad sight tho, must have been pants hearing the sirens but the fire trucks couldn't get thru the traffic

Thats really a shame, Miuras are the prettiest car ever IMO. Is it possible to rebuild that? Nice if it is.

not pretty watching, but i'd imagine that'll be rebuilt, I think Muira's are worth rebuilding so long as you have an original chassis plate these days...

Miuras had a habit of spitting fuel from the carbs onto the hot engine.
Saw this video a few days ago. So sad.

Think the carbs had a tendancy to have a little burp every now and then .... That and the notoriously poor casting on some of the alloy fuel fittings/carbs letting fuel spray everywhere with no notice..

It was in one of the national papers today. Think it was owned by some guy who owns a restoration shop so said it would be restored. Just think,a 200 quid plumbed in extinguisher would have sorted that right out. It amazes me that people who own top end cars and tuned road cars (or anything with twin carbs ect) don't have one fitted for peace of mind.

Sad, I read in a classic mag, the most common issue on these was a two bob fuel line clip, which used to break & then the fuel line used to fall onto the zost.

IIRC the normal issue small fire extinguishers are not far away from useless for petrol/engine fires aren't they?
Peter Lloyd are meant to sell a half decent kit, but I guess many people would think twice about spoiling the 'originality' of most cars until an incident like the above occurs.
It is a shame that another Miura has gone up in smoke, but at least it will be resurrected once more.

Apparently it is going to be restored. I guess if the chassis is intact, it can't possibly cost more than its £1million value.

Apparently it is going to be restored. Of course it is. The total number of Miuras built is [x]. The average value is [y]. The future value will be [z]. The cost of restoration is [immaterial]. Someone fill in the maths for me, thanks.
