...also known as witchcraft and magic.
IT MAKES THE CAR DO A BUNNY HOP!
Does anyone know what became of this project? Was it just a 'look what we can do' or was it simply too expensive to be a viable option?
It looks utterly incredible, though it is a bit high!

I read about that back when they were developing it, shame it never really came to anything, I think the modern magnetic adjustable dampers were a spin off from it, but not sure why it never made full production? Cost maybe.

Remember the days when sex was safe and motorsport was dangerous. Vintage bling always attracts pussy.

Lotus did a similar development in the early 90s with the SID (Structures, Isolation, Dynamics) prototype that was intended to prove the technology for the introduction of the V8 Esprit: www.lotusespritworld.com/EOtherstuff/sid.htmlIt had a system of computer-controlled electro-hydraulic actuators instead of dampers and springs, which was developed for the Lotus F1 programme (until it was banned), active 4WS and 4WD (based on the Metro 6R4 transmission) and a twin-turbo TWR V64V (as the V8 wasn't yet ready). All the journos who were invited to test-drive it absolutely raved about it's handling and suspension, but when the V8 Esprit eventually arrived none of the advanced technology had made it onto the car (it was even still saddled with the Renaut UN1 transaxle, which required the engine to be detuned to 350bhp to avoid breaking it). Presumably the cost of productionising the advanced systems is what led to them not being taken up. SID itself can still be found dumped round the back of the factory at Hethel, near the perimeter fence. It should really be at Beaulieu or Gaydon (though at least being fibreglass it's not rusting away).
