in 1999 I got an MG Montego for £30 used it for 8 months, then my brother used it for 4 months. I then let a distant relative use it and forgot all about it, I got it back 3 years ago and sold it on when it was still on his drive as I had no room at the inn

Lots of people will shortly tell you of the free cars they got, particularly from before 2005ish when it cost to get the scrappy to come and take them away. Anyway, here's 'Brian' the Dolomite which cost us £150 plus a bit for tax in '04.

Like others I've had cars for free but out of those I actually paid money the cheapest was a 20,000 mile 1964 Sunbeam Rapier IV with 10 months MOT that cost £20. To be fair this was around 1981/82.

My first car, back in 1999 - cost me £225. Lots of people will shortly tell you of the free cars they got, particularly from before 2005ish when it cost to get the scrappy to come and take them away. Yep, here's the Scirocco my mate gave me for my 21st birthday. (He bought it for the BBS wheels to put on his mkII Golf, and was going to scrap it.)

MkIV Escort Estate 1.4 taxed and tested for £60. I bought it on expenses for a magazine feature.
Swapped it for a cup of tea (yes, seriously)...

This: The most rotten car I've ever seen put back on the road. Cost me £200, but a further £xxxx to get it back into one piece. I've only ever been offered one freebe-a Merc 190e if I collected it, but it was in Northern Ireland & no T&T on it

No pics, as I accidentally deleted the Photobucket folder with them in, and the camera they were on got lost, but my second to last Yugo was won on eBay for £12.50, with MOT and tax. Cost me more to get the train to St Ives and drive it home!

Mine was $1 (not including $40 of spare change hidden inside it)

ignoring the ones that i swapped or was given and it hasn't happened in many many years but potentially another free one, but i forced 20 quid into his hands as i dragged it out of the back of his garden where it had sat for a while - most comfortable seats in any car i have ever had i can still remember how it smelled inside and looking at the pic i miss it (i miss my hair and those trainers too)
