So went to pick up the new resto project today, however since it's been sat for 30 years it is seized.
We towed it out of the Garage with the Landrover, front wheels turned but rears are seized completely solid, We didnt want to winch it up onto the trailer and bring it back to mine as we wouldnt be able to push it into my Garage.
Plan is to go up tomorrow morning and jack it up, unseize the wheels so we can collect it sunday.
Any help/advice? Plan at the moment is to get the wheel off, smack the drum off with a hammer and hope that free's it up.

Wheel off. Good whack of the hammer to the drum, waggle with an ugly screwdriver around the drum (without overly bending the back-plate).
Even if it's totally stuck, can you not maneouvre the back around on a trolley jack?

The 'percussive maintenance' solution usually works. Maybe worth while taking some decent penetrant oil as well. 30yrs?!?! ..... it took 3 of us just over an hour with hammers, spray and a van to 'unseize' a trailer mounted cherry picker that had been sat for just a couple of yrs ......

Whilst rolling it get a sledge hammer between your legs and smack it just off centre of the bearing all the way round, should free off without taking the wheel off....and then move onto the next one...

Yeah 30 years, seized like mad.
Cant really manoeuvre it around on a trolley jack I'm afraid as the fronts do roll but not with ease. they rolled when we dragged it out with the landrover

Wheel off put some amount of turning force on the drum whilst beating the drum with a hammer. Alternate your whacks around the drum, don't keep whacking away in 1 place for too long.
Good luck

Is it possible to slacken off the hub nut if it's got one that could be undone to give the drum some free play to break off the shoes?
I've done that on a series Land Rover before to make it moveable, we weren't in a place that we could go around beating the hell out of stuff with lump hammers. After a few rotations and going up and down the trailer it free'd off nicely ;D

Hi, try dragging the car with the Landrover and at the same time hitting the wheel with a hammer. If tha doesn't work winch it onto the trailer and secure the car by the wheels only and start your journey home. Stop every couple of miles to see if the motion of the car on the trailer has freed it off, and give them another whack or two for good luck.

I usually find colnerov's suggestion of driving/towing slowly whilst someone walks alongside banging the wheel with a hammer works.
Or, if it's rear drive, concentrate on getting it running first then try to drive it to free them off.
30 years, makes me feel slightly better about the length of time I've had some of mine sitting about

Can you borrow some wheel skates ? I've got a set and have used them to load vehicles without wheels onto flat bed trailers. Otherwise it's smack ten shades out of the drum with sledge hammer and budget to replace them.
