Wonder if anyone can shed some light on this. I have a mk2 golf which has let water in since I got it. The windscreen has been out and the frame has been rewelded where there was bits missing, all seam sealed and painted back up. The A pillars were solidified too... However it still leaks water in. I've used food dye and poured different colours in different bits. The sunroof, rain tray, doors don't leak. The windscreen does. Can I pump grease/silicon/special stuff into the gap between car and seal, it's getting right on my nerves now! Thanks for reading.

ooh! Is that to be put in when fitting or can I pump it in with the screen in place?

Ideally you need to fill the groove of the seal up with it before putting the wire in the seal to pull the screen in. I suppose you could try and pump some in after the fact, but you stand a good chance of getting in a mess and still having a leaky screen - it depends how far you can pull the screen seal back I guess.

Gutter sealant! Works a treat, amazons always leak, not mine! You use it in a mastic gun, inject it under the seal to fill the void and wipe away the excess with white spirit.

Sounds to me like the rubber has seen better days and gone baggy, new rubber and clean the windscreen apeture well, string it in job done, the rubber on a mk2 golf has channels on the back which makes the rain water run along to drain away, they are a dry seal rubber from the factory so should not be sealed but changed if leaking.
