Temp sender -- bottom hose or top?

	Decided i want to fit a temp guage in the standard. Piece of mind realy as i intend to drive it as much as possible.. I'm wondering what the better location would be? I'm thinking of using a hose adaptor (as per ebay) But wondering what hose it would be better in? Top or bottom? I'm also going to lose the belt driven fan and go electric , So this sender will possibly either have to trip the fan, or to give me an idea when to switch it on...

	Ideally you'd want it in a hose with water flowing through it all the time - one that's not controlled by the thermostat like feeds to and from the radiator are. If the stat sticks shut, the engine will cook and the gauge will still read cold!

	Temp gauge sensor should be in the engine not the radiator. Switch for radiator fan should be in the outlet pipe from the radiator (normally the bottom). The fan should only come on when the radiator can't cool the water enough by itself and needs help. So normally only when the cars not moving through the air which normally cools the rad If you have it in the inlet pipe to rad then when the water in the engine gets hot and the thermostat opens to let hot water out into the radiator the fan would come on, even though cool water in the rad is going into the engine. It won't overheat the rad doing it this way but the fan will be running a lot more than it needs to. At least thats the way i was taught, and the way i always fit them. Never had a problem with doing it that way.
