1986 Honda Accord Aerodeck EX
1955cc Petrol Carbed With 5 Speed Manual Transmission
Due to my workplace moving to within walking distance of where I live we are considering becoming a one car family. This, whilst having obvious economic advantages, puts me in the depressing predicament of having to part with my beloved Accord. My wife has a new beetle and would be willing to let that go first but that would mean that she would then have the 'deck as a daily.....This I can not allow..for obvious reasons!
I have researched this car quite extensively since it has been in my ownership and believe that it is the oldest example of it's kind on the road in the UK. Up until recently I would have said it was the oldest full stop but I have recently stumbled across just one that was registered in 1985 in Europe... It was the prototype that went on show in Brussels in 1986!
If anyone knows of an earlier 'deck over here I would love to hear from you..
This wonderful car was purchased new from main dealers Riccardo Emiliani of Lincoln by a lady who subsequently emigrated to Australia, leaving the Accord in garaged storage and only occasionally used during visits to the UK. Shortly after moving back to the UK in 2010, she traded it in for a new car. Between 1986 and 2010 the car covered a little under 35000 miles.
A semi retired friend of mine bought it from the dealership and subsequently used it mainly for 2 mile commutes to work for about 6 months before selling it to me. By this time it had covered a little over 35500 miles.
I have now owned this little gem for around 17 months, even though I only took it on as a stop gap car after selling my Golf, and can honestly say that it is one of the nicest cars I have ever driven. Everything works as it should and it drives like a brand new car. Viewing is an absolute must to appreciate.
I refer you to the following link for pics and details taken when I first got the car last year... You will have to scroll to the bottom of the page to view the pictures.

...and it is still much the same with the following exceptions:
It now has a little over 44k on the clock
It rolls on a set of diamond cut 17" black Ripspeed alloys with low profiles.
I still have the stock steels and trims with original Michelins on them, which, although they flew through the MOT last year, are showing their age. They will be included with the car.
It has been fitted with a new, good quality fixed flange towbar with single electrics.
A brand new radiator was fitted last month after the old one started to weep slightly and the coolant system was flushed and replenished
There are a couple of areas, particularly at the ends of the sills where the paint has blistered,as is common on these old 3Gs exposing surface rust. I have treated these areas with Jenolite and sealed with matching paint but have not got round to having professionally refinished as yet.
There are two very slight car park dinks to the n/s, one on the door and one on the front wing. These will easily pop out and are barely noticeable.
Other than that the car is faultless, having passed MOT test in April with no advisories. I have since replaced the n/s CV joint as it was becoming a little noisy due to an unnoticed split boot. The only thing that doesn't work perfectly is the LED time clock on the dash, and even that kicks back into life every now and again.
Cam belt etc was replaced at around 32000 miles..more due to age than wear.
This car MUST have a good home. I am in no rush to see it go.
I now have a t4 camper on it's way and have significantly reduced my original price.
Please feel free to ask for any details I may have omitted.Call 07538 476168 and ask for Scott.
Many thanks...
