Got a lovely set of Alfa Romeo Alfetta wheels for the Lardarse - they go on the back, but not the front! Apparently this is right as for some reason Lada centrebore is slightly bigger at the front! It's only by a smidge - I'd presume I should get a flapper wheel of slightly larger diameter than I want the finished hole to be and be very gentle with quick bursts of the drill - anyone care to correct me or agree with me? If hate to knacker these lovely rare 34 year old wheels! Wheels are somewhere around 58.something and so is the centrebore so it's literally as whisker that needs to come off. Dave

Surely you have a friendly local engineering company that will turn them up on the lathe? The flap wheel could work, but I wouldn't like to try it! A mate of mine works for Allied Hydro Power and they have a place in Birkenhead if that's any help?

Yeah, a big flap wheel would be fine if you are talking small amounts like this, just keep it stirring around so you don't focus too much on a particular corner and you'll get things more than accurate enough.

+1 for flapwheel.
I had to shave 1mm off the circumference of some Rover BBS wheels to fit on my Golf because of the scene tax on VW bore...I had the benefit of a hubcentric spacer to hand so just spent a couple of minutes on each one, job done.

whilst a flap wheel will work would it not be better to get the hubs on a lathe to match the rears?

Cheers fellas, thought as much - and I'm on a ridiculous budget at the moment so getting them machined for a tenth of a millimetre isn't really an option! I need to get some bolts too as my Lada ones are too short - they are M12x1.25 but stubby little chaps, I'm thinking of getting some second hand ones from something with the same bolt pattern but longer, not sure how long they need to be as if they are too long they'll hit the gubbins in the brake drums. I'll probably try one and cut it down to suit. Anyone know another car that shares the same alloy bolts? *off to google*

Peugeots (106 206 306 etc) are the same thread, normal bolts for steelies are 60degree taper.
