I'm build a K series powered Mini Clubman, using the standard length front end. Its all in and looking good, with the exception of the cam cover is poking through the drivers headlamp hole Are the halogen conversion units shallower than the sealed beams? I'm thinking spacing the headlamps and grill forward by about half inch to give me clearance, but the sealed beam shells are stupidly deep.

I'm not sure, but I know a friend of mine's got a k-series powered clubman with a standard length front end ( This front end) and there's no clearance issues there with halogens. Pretty sure his cam-covers not far enough over to hit even if it was that far forwards though.

Do you mean the actual headlight or the shell - you mention both ? The sealed beam is the same depth as a halogen. You can cut the bowls down so just the retaining ring. In fact my Mahindra has just the retaining ring and no bowl so they must be available that way. If you are using a fibreglass front end what about cutting the "nose" off and relocating it a few inches further forward then filling in the gaps with fresh fibreglass.

It's a steel front end. I'm thinking of getting a couple of headlamp panels and welding them forward and a little bit. Bug eyed clubman ftw!
