I've looked for this EVERYWHERE on the net and Hayne's manual and can't find it.
Can someone put me out of my misery and tell me what it is? There are 6 (I think) marks on the crank pulley - which I assume is -5 0 5 10 15 20.
I've got everything to do it with, I just don't know what the timing degrees is!

to be honest. the haynes is pretty rubbish and doesn't show proper pics of the 12valve engines timing marks. instead, it just tells you to set it up like the 1.3 and 1.6 engines. 1.3 is 2, +/-2 and 1.6 is 4, +/-2
there is a fair amount of pluming to the dissy vacum advance/retard too, so if any of them pipes is split or not conected up right it's never gonna run as it's ment to.
the dissy on mine is set pretty much bang in the middle of it's adjustment.

oh and make sure you do the timing with the engine up to temp to make sure the vacum control valves are open.

Thanks for that - I checked my Bluebird manual and it has all the timing detailed on the crank (as listed above). The previous owner changed the vacuum hoses (there's four going into the carb alone) and it's possible this is the problem - now where to find the digram for this! My Starion had a complete diagram for it, wish I could find one for the Sunny!

Thanks for all your help, I really appreciate it! I'll give it a go as soon as I'm over this chundering (etc) into the toilet business.
