Advert #2
I’m having to sell my prides and joys due to not having the time nor the funds to complete the projects I have, plus I’ve had to buy a more fuel efficient car for my commute to University (doing about 400 miles a week going to University alone) – I’m also selling my XR3 in another advert.
I bought this Escort back in January 2012 from Dan (danbrown93) who bought it from another Dan (dan91) a few months earlier. She’s quite famous online, having been on here (“sgallywag” owned her at some stage) and on both forums Escort Evolution (owned by Callum, user name “EscortEstate.”) and Rat Look (owned by “K P”).
She’s served me tremendously over the past year going to and from university (80 mile round trip) plus the odd run to Ipswich; I even took her to Battlesbridge Ford Show and Ford Fair in Silverstone this year but I have to sell up as I can’t run two cars and have no space to store her
Engine wise she’s fitted with a 1600 CVH (a little tappety but never bothered me nor got worse – doesn’t burn water or oil either) coupled with a 5 speed gearbox (Told it was tuned XR3 lump and a RS Turbo/LSD box) and a Weber twin choke TLDM (round top) carburettor with a K&N element and water auto choke (I had to source another replacement carb as the original one was kaput – a genuine weber carburettor service kit is also included in the sale). I also removed the stupid motorcycle fuel pump as it was heavily over fuelling with a brand new fuel pump and pipes. (did £5 in two miles!)
When I got her the exhaust had been bodged (the manifold had to be cut off as it had been welded to the down pipe) so I sourced an RS1600i manifold and down pipe from eBay and got a brand new Euroflo XR3i mid and tail pipe fitted (they’re slightly a bigger bore than a standard 1.6 exhaust).
To get her through her MOT, I also had all four shocks replaced with brand new QH ones and also added poly bushes to the shock absorbers. I’ve got other poly bushes still remaining which I never got round to fitting which I’ll throw in to the new owner. I also raised the front end back up to normal as I found I had to slow to literally walking pace just to get over humps. I have springs for the rear but again, I haven’t been able to swap them over yet.
Interior wise she’s now got a beautiful 90 spec Recaro RS Turbo interior. The arms rests haven’t sagged and I’ve always had a seat cover on so the bolsters are perfect too. In conjunction to that she’s also got a 90 spec dash but still using her original clocks showing the shells mileage. Using genuine ford pods and new wiring, I also fitted Alpine SXE-1325S speaker’s front and back and a brand new wing mounted aerial.
As you can see, there are 16” Mondeo Alloys fitted with locking wheel nuts (made by Ronal)… She’s got Nankang tyres on the rear and Toyo Proxes on the front. I believe the wheels were to have been professionally refurbed by a previous owner or two (dan #1 mentioned it in his original add – he too is held to blame for the curb marks!)
In regards to the body work, she’s had her bonnet and passengers door resprayed in the past (someone gave her a Rat Look) although her roof remains matt black. For the last MOT I had a fair bit of welding done, drivers side floor, inner sill, outer rear sill, battery tray welded up properly and seam sealed, passenger’s floor and seat anchorage. I’ve no doubt she’d pass her next MOT as shes been made solid. I then had her under-sealed with Schutz. She has had a small bump in the rear (idiot drove off) but it’s that light I didn’t worry about it. For Ford Fair I went over her with a mop and a clay bar (spent a good half a day on her at least) and she looked amazing as you can see in the pictures. She also comes with pressed aluminum plates and her original plastic ones wearing Allen Romford logos.
When I bought her she had a fair few issues which I’ve rectified (as it’s been my daily runner I’ve needed something reliable so no short cuts) either by buying parts to replace it with or by fixing the “bodges”. Other bits done include a new brake pipe as it was kinked on the rear, replacement washer bottle and pump, both rear bulb holders, new horn, new dust caps on track rods, new fuel cap, replacement head light, new clear indicators (ambers included), clear side repeaters, oil and filter change, secured brake/fuel lines, the odd cap/cover which was missing and just other general maintenance bits and bobs to keep her tip-top.
History wise there isn’t much, I've kept all of the receipts etc which I've personally bought, but as menctioned before, shes had an oil change, filter, the K&N and a set of plugs in my ownership. I've checked on the VOSA site for the mileage and it all tallies up (although engine has been swapped)
At the moment she stands me at well over £1000, I know I won’t get the money I’ve spent back but I’d like to hope I would get £SOLD£ ovno . The insurance is fairly low seeing as she’s still registered as a 1300cc (haven’t got round to sending the log book off so it’s up to the new owner) and tax is a mere £135 a year.
If I’m honest she’s probably worth more in bits than as a complete car but I’d hate to see another being stripped and weighed in. She’s Tax’d until July 2013 – off the top of my head I believe the MOT is roughly the same.
I’ve got a fair few parts which I’ve bought separate to the car, these include another 1.6 CVH, RS Clutch, Diesel Gearbox (I believe it’s the MTX75), RS Turbo Bonnets x2 (including vents), RS Turbo white dial clocks, washer bottle, lock set, 88 spec red front bumper, 2x red rear bumpers, orange front indicators and various other bits which I can’t remember. These DO NOT come with the car although will be offered to the buyer for what they’re worth, failing that I will list them on here/eBay after.
Viewing is highly recommended and as per my previous advert, delivery can be arranged if needed.
I’m in IG3 (Ilford area) so not far from the M25/M11 if you were to come down.
Any questions etc please ask.
Thanks
H
