Volkswagen CADDY VR6 VAN 1998 (£2,800)
Here is my VW Caddy VR6, ive owned the van around 6 month and I was intending on keeping it for as long as possible and going to alot of shows this year as it is a real eye cather, But due to a baby on the way and me having to buy a larger family car I'm thinking the van has top go.
This is an absoloute sleeper, dusts off alot of high end cars at traffic lights and the looks on the drivers face when they wonder whats just happened.
the van is still registered as a 1.9sdi
van still has around 8month mot
tax end of this month.
paintwork is metal flake orange so sparkles really well in the sun, the stripes are painted aswell and also are done in grey metal flake.
inside of rear doors and rear section of van are still the original red colour.
engine is a 2.8 golf vr6 out of an r - reg, unsure on the mileage of the engine but I have loads of reciepts for both the donor car and the van.
I have recently fit a new sump as it cracked due to the van being so low.
also had a full top end rebuild as the engine lost compression on 3 cylinders, so full head set,
new chain tensioners,
new guide rails,
second hand filter housing,
new plugs and leads,
new lower coolant rail,
this work cost me just short of £650
(reciept to prove this)
van now runs great,
front is lowered on coilovers at the front,
and a flipped rear axle on the rear,
front brakes are vr6 discs, pads and callipers,
rear brakes are still drums, (been looking at converting these but havnt got the time or money)
BAD POINTS:
heater inop, very annoying in the cold winter but fine in summer, never looked into it but I think when the conversion was done the person didnt bother connecting heater pipe and cables.
steering rack UJ very notchy,
one catch on the rear doors doesnt shut properly untill you know the knack of doing it.
fuel gauge doesnt work correctly, when nearly empty it shows 1/4 when full it shows 3/4
this could be made into a nice show van and from the outside looks great, but due to the jobs it needs it wont be winning any trophies anytime soon.
I have probably fogoten someting but will update if I do remember anything or contact me if you have any questions.
I have also been as honest as possible as when I got the van the previous owner didnt tell me any of the faults and I was fuming when I started finding things 1 by 1.
, there is alot of work and money gone into this van, but I'm not in a mega rush to sell as the baby isnt due untill end of may.
or speak to me on 07716491069, (please txt me first just to say your going to call as I don't like answering numbers I don't know) too many ppi calls, etc.
