What a cool idea but what stops the oil coming out of the engines? I'm assuming they are driven on

What makes you think the oil stayed in the engine even when it was on all four wheels! ;D

I remember reading about the "vert-i-pack" Vega railcars. The Vegas were designed to be transported that way- the engine had a baffle in the pan to hold the oil with the car stood on its nose. Same with the trans, battery, washer fluid, coolant, etc.
I hope the Railcars were waterproof; otherwise the Vegas would rust away after a good downpour! ;D

Amazing! I absolutely love this kind of thing...
Is it me or is the styling of the hatchback 'coupe' (when viewed from the rear quarters) slightly reminiscent of the original DBS? Maybe with a hint of Manta A?
I LOVE the station wagon version.

The rail cars still look like that over here...only...with flat floors and the cars are horizontal they leave the Oshawa and Oakville plants filled with Fords and Chevvies

I thought the Oshawa plant was only making engines these days?

Nope, they make a number of cars up there in Oshawa, including the Buick Regal, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Equinox, Cadillac XTS, and for now, the Chevrolet Camaro, though when the new model cycle debuts production will be moved over to Lansing, Michigan. The Oakville plant makes makes the Ford Flex, Ford Edge, Lincoln MKT and MKX. They also made a number of the Panther platform Ford CROWN Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis. Oooh, they just look so good. I want one like this with the formidable Vega Cosworth motor.

Just finished reading John Z Deloreans book about his time at GM. The Vega gets a whole chapter. Originally to be called the Gemini, it was overruled by its corporate champion Ed Cole to be the Vega which DeLorean described as sounding like a Virus. The alloy engine turned out to be heavier than a cast iron crossflow Chevrolet engineers had already developed. The long stroke it was saddled with proved unecessary to meet emissions regs. The car put on further weight after during testing the first prototype suffered a structural failure. There was an early recall for carburettor fires and after a huge expensive advertising campaign just in time for a UAW strike so they had no cars to sell. All pretty catastrophic.
