A bit of a long shot this, it's going on ebay at the end of the week but I'd sooner offer it up here than to the ebay vultures to be honest as it's a pretty special car.
It's a late rubber bumper roadster. US car, imported by us from America, I might even somewhere still have the original US title papers, I do have it's original US plate which is nice.
I ran it as my daily for about 3 years, had fantastic fun in the car, brilliant motor. Then I parked it up for nigh on 10 years.
In that time the absolutely rot free bodyshell fared pretty well, needing only a new front wing lower repair panel and rear wing lower repair panel and a pair of door skins doing. Now on these repairs the rear wing and door skins are very well done, but the front wing was entrusted to a friend as I had just started a new job, he used oxy to weld it up instead of the mig and spot welder and has distorted the new metal. It could be got back but I would personally replace it again with a new repair panel they are only about £40. It hasn't distorted the original metalwork luckily so no harm done.
This car has all it's original US bits except the engine, so it has it's limited edition boot rack, special steering wheel, triple wipers, LE wheels, LE front skirt as it's a run out model, I was going to paint it black as per the US LEs. It also has a mint antelope interior to the original US spec (NOS seat covers I found when I put it on the road originally). It has a UK spec high comp engine and overdrive box which with the longer rear diff fitted to these US non overdrive cars makes for a lively yet nice cruising car.
There is a bit of bodywork to finish but it's piddling little bits, no rot in the car at all, it's been bare metalled down so it's going to be special when it's done and painted. All the interiors there, decent hood to go with it, good mechanicals. It just needs finishing and you have a special car.
As a car to drive it's fantastic, I'm very sorry to sell it but I haven't got the room to keep it or an excuse any more, truth be told at the purchase price you can't lose even if you do it to sell, finished the car will likely sell abroad for circa 5k plus.
I reckon I could have the paint on the car in 2 weekends, reassembled within another 2 and mechanically sorted in another 2.
Collection obviously with a trailer, everything can be got in to the car for transportation so it's not as if you will need to make multiple trips.
Located in Driffield East Yorks.
Open to sensible offers or even interesting swaps, I'd prefer either a running classic or practical diesel modern ideally. To put this car in to perspective I suspect I could make circa £1700 just by breaking it but I hate to break a nice car with potential especially when it holds a lot of memories.
I can get pics up at some point before the weekend but to be honest a bare metalled B bodyshell doesn't exactly look that pretty, I used to restore these for a living so I do know what I'm looking for and there is nothing scary on this one. Indeed if your thrifty barring a bit of paint and a few inevitable little bits I reckon you could get this car on the road without buying any more bits.
