Awesome stuff....and to think the MSA are seriously considering banning home-brewed stuff like this...no wonder rallying's going down the toilet.

Yes, but Health & Safety must take priority I remember when I first read about that and one MSA official had said that people like Ford spent millions designing a car with strength and torsional ridgidity built into it. People could no longer start modifying the chassis in their sheds to take a different engine and rear drive platform without compromising the structure of the car. Scrutineers would not be able to see if cars were safe to use or not. Sounded more like concerns over insurance liability rather than anything else No doubt it will all end up being linked to the proposed SVA testing of modified cars to try and keep everyone using a standard car.

Fantastic car :-)
Strange though. It sounded different at different times. Sometimes it was the usual boring 4-cylinder sound you get from Ferrari V8s with a flat-plane crankshaft, but other times it sounded more like a common V8 - especially on the overrun (for example, from 23 to 34 seconds into the clip).
Does anyone happen to know whether he experimented with different engine internals or something?

Holy thread resurrection Batman. I need photos of this car, as many as possible. One of the model manufacturers that we work with wants to make a 1:43 resin model of the car and we need reference material. I've been in touch with the team and got the following reply. I recall that CCC did a feature on it many years ago when I was still slimhairyyoof. Does anyone happen to have that magazine article that they could scan and email to me or are there any older rally fans here who happened to be out on the stages in the late 80s/early 90s with cameras? Meanwhile, a couple of pics for your delectation.

I have never seen the Alfa Ferrari in action, but have heard lots of stories about it. A friend of mine may have photos of it, i'll have a word with him when I see him tomorrow. If anyone is interested in seeing Andy's awesome Peugeot Cosworth, it will be in action, in the Lake District on Saturday, on the Malcolm Wilson Rally. Spectator details are here.... www.malcolmwilson.co.uk/spectators.htmlAnd the Peugeot Cosworth website is here www.peugeot-cosworth.co.uk/

Dragging this up from the depths. I had a CCC article on this car back in the 80's. Unfortunatly all my CCC magazines were lost in a fire in the early 90's before I moved to the States. Anyone got any more pics of the Alfa Ferrari or by chance a scan on the CCC article?
Thanks

Thanks I'll go hunting, so much more stuff has been added to the collective internet media that there may well be more out there than 12 years ago when this thread was first created.

I do remember when he actually started on the project, initially the car was standard sprint body, then later on he shortened the whole car.
