Good luck with the sale, I've got a standard white one and had the exact same failure of the cylinder head, (replaced mine though) these motors are prone to this but that's its only weakness, don't think that the head has cracked cos of misuse 'cos usually it hasn't!
Paint work has a nice finish though, there's loads more out there alot worse!

I was offered a head for £100 bare head that was stripped down. The machine shop I took the head too said there was a possibility the head could be welded but they didn't do that.

The place that done mine didn't advise fixing it as you can't be sure how it'll hold up in the future, but then again that was before I started using a specialist engineering (Coltec) place to look after my cars, what they think I don't know but am going there tomorrow for MoT on me Saab 900 so will ask. As for sourcing a head, they are around if you have patience waiting for one to turn up but shouldn't have to wait too long for one, I didn't  Maybe worth joining up to DaiTorque www.gttioc.com/forum or the equivalent Facebook page which I'm not on so can't say any more than that, Facebook that is, must be one of the few  |
