Wow that's proper smart! Subtle modern colour, teamed with rod rod style red steels, beauty rings and white walls. Proper bo I tell thee!

Ding!! Shows that simple clean minimal mods not only works for Golfs, but also for classics. Simple & timeless.

Yeeeeeeeah That's just lovely, an exercise in restraint. I love the modern take on what you'd imagine to be a quintessentially '50s colour. There are so many other ways the owner could have taken the car, I can imagine it would look pretty good tubbed out with huge rear tyres and an equally huge motor, but probably not as good as this. In some ways it's almost a shame it's "only" powered by a Chevy 350 and not something a bit different and more interesting, but... Well, not really. I imagine it's a real pleasure to cruise in.

1989 Peugeot 205. You know, the one that was parked in a ditch on the campsite at RRG'17... the glass is always full. but the ratio of air to water may vary.

A 350 Chev is a very big motor for a humpy Holden! These are quite narrow cars, so I'm surprised that they've managed to keep the trans tunnel so unobtrusive.
Absolutely beautiful car, and magnificently finished. I love it. Don't understand the number of wheel studs, but I don't care! ;D

Really beautifully finished. I love the original gauge panel and that's a perfect shade of red for the wheels. Waveman, the steelies might be drilled with two stud patterns so he's used extra bolts to fill the extra holes and add to the spider cap looks. Can't really see. He might have just drilled and mounted the extras just for the look.

Another WOW. Love the subtlety of that. The longer you look the more changes you realize have been made

I just noticed that EmDee said it was in Street Machine Feb 2012. This struck me as odd, because I don't recognise the car. I've been subscribing to SM for years and normally I remember most of the cars. So, I looked through the piles of papers on my desk and dug it out from the bottom of the pile. Need to tidy up!
It was indeed a feature car, it got four pages. Without wanting to infringe SM's copyright, I don't think it would hurt to paraphrase a little. The owner normally likes FCs, but his wife told him that their next car had to be an FJ. A woman with taste! The Chev conversion was already done, but it had a modern interior with bucket seats and it was jacked up at the back, as mentioned by the OP. The engine is basically stock apart from the carbs, and it's got a Turbo 350 auto and a 10 bolt rear axle.
The owner added rare period Nasco accessories to the car, including the horn ring, bonnet mascot, headlight trim spears, rear stoneguards, and the chrome 'fin' accessory tail-lights at the back. Stock FJs only had the single centre tail-light, and black rubber stoneguards.
