cool or fool... (these must be about retro by now, right?) Just try finding a pic of one with the doors closed LOL. A mate of mine has two of these believe it or not (although one is a donor car) they have rear speakers like the old Audioline shelf speakers and they rotate and dance to the music in "funky mode". How odd. Or are they unredemabley gaybar?

Just a normal modern hatchback with gimmicky doors, IMO. Nothing too special.

I like 'em. Got no idea what they're like to drive, what engines they have, etc., but I think they're at least slightly different to a lot of 90's blobs.

I like long walks, especially when they're taken by people I don't like.

I was interested to know what engines these things had. From Wikipedia: The engine is the 5E-FHE developing 110ps (108bhp), and this is the largest capacity derivation of the E series engines, and the most powerful of the normally aspirated versions. The Toyota Starlet GT Turbo or Glanza engine, codename 4E-FTE, develops 135ps (133bhp) as standard and has been successfully transplanted in a number of Seras in Japan, Australia and the UK.
Iiiiinteresting...

Glad they exist but I wouldn't have one. Nice symbol of the madder stuff Japan dared to produce back then.

One issue is if you break the rear glass, it's a write off!!!
I'd possibly like a mental 5E-FTE hybrid type deal with a T28 or something slung on there for a bit of torquesteering action....

Glad they exist but I wouldn't have one. Nice symbol of the madder stuff Japan dared to produce back then. Thats what I always thought. Suggesting its just a hatchback with fancy doors misses the point a bit, its a FWD coupe like many others, heck I remember people telling me my Capri was "just a Cortina with 3 doors" back in the 80s...

I like em lots, have always concidered getting one but they are still a bit to much, since it would be used as a 2nd, 3rd 4th or 5th car chris

The window thing isnt an issue. Mosy UK insurers don't write a car off due to glass- most owners check this, and that there is no "maximum payout" for glass when they buy their insurance. Spare glass isnt too much of a problem, and andrew cliffe (sera club bloke) scraps damaged ones, and has quite a bit in stock most of the time. As for the concept of the whole thing (its essentially a starlet) it is a strange one, thats for sure. But I suppose thats its charm for the folk who like them. My mates turbo came fresh out of the garage today- with 148 BHP after a rolling road setup that sera must be fun! Looking forward to a ride in that
