It willl only take a couple of minutes to find a spring. Alll of a sudden 30 mintes has gone. LOL yes I have considered using a different one. Just wandered if someone knew a good spring place! Mine definitely has a larger diameter wire in the spring. Also I need to check the inside circle diameter. Jack is in a lockup so will do the measurements and phone around.

I spent at least 15 of those minutes trying to work out what the blooming thing would be called so i could do a more specific search

Its been a year but I found one in Bristol. Attention span of a gnat is my problem. Chance cobnversation in a autoparts. Bloke suggested a garage equipment supplier he knew. Looks identical to the broken one.

I just got a new spring for my 90's sealy, £4.13 from my local car spares shop, picked it up when i collected a new seal kit for my 50 Yr old bradbury 3 ton jack (gets rebuilt every 10 years or so just in case )
