Ok guys n girls. Not been on here forever, but decided it was worth showing off my daily to the lovely peoples on here I currently own a Mk1 Morris Marina coupe, 1.3 SDL in terrific Harvest Gold (my mate calls it sick and other compliments). After a mate commented "that's the coolest thing you've looked at in ages" I took that advice, and promptly went out to have a look at it. The guy I bought it from (a trader) was speechless to the fact that I was giving up a Mk2 Scirocco and had instead wanted to own a Marina. The car is , despite a little rough round the edges a very solid original car. Having had only one small patch of welding on the passenger footwell the size of a coaster, the floor pan is remarkable. I've owned her about six months now, and only had to find little things to do to it. It's been stupidly reliable, and hasn't missed a beat. I tend to pamper my cars, so she's had a new dizzy, and a electronic ignition kit to do away with nasty points etc. I get some hilarious looks as I commute round and about, and no end of compliments. The car is totally standard and has never even had a radio. Ive recently fitted a retro Motorola 8 track, and hidden the speakers behind the dash for that retro sound ;D I've improved it so far, by sourcing some replacement bumpers as the originals were bent, new rear light lens, and pressed plates. The rear silencer was shot, so now has a straight through job..which has a nice rasp to it Long-term plan is to keep her. I'm currently trying to find some interesting wheels for it, and go the whole roof rack thing, with maybe white walls? Keep an eye out for updates ...

Fabulous , top work with the 8 Track, a set of nice slot mags would set that off a treat

Thanks It really is a great little car. I don't know why they get so much stick. I know they weren't particularly well made, and not very well rust-proofed but this one seems to have lasted despite all odds ;D It gets used pretty much daily, rain or shine. One comment i had the other day made me laugh was from an old bloke. "Bloody hell - a Marina. They were supposed to be rubbish when they were new! - but look at yours - still going"

Very nice & your current wheel trims look pretty interesting in their own right. Perhaps a logo sticker at the centre? Excellent Stereo! I must admit your pictures sent me off looking for pictures of Marinas with interesting '70's stripes but didn't find any I liked. Maybe some stick-on coachlines/pinstripes to exaggerate interesting body creases? Whitewalls just wouldn't seem right.. but thin red striped or white lettered tyres..

Some 'LE'-style stripes made up in a strong colour to contrast with your Harvest Gold paint would work: imagine black stripes, black and detailed Alleycats and a front bib spoiler?! Nice!

I do like a marina - i always maintain that the front end is a bit falcon-ish!

Was considering a red stripe. I'm hoping to get some other wheels for her. Perhaps banded steels. But then, I'd have to lower it and that ruined my last cars ride by doing that. Bodywork wise she's very good. The front wings need attention, and there's a few rust blisters here and there that will need attention soon, but otherwise very tidy ;D Here she is having a replacement door (original had scars) Carpet out for check-over before fitting a new. Was pleased to find metal! And here's my mate painting up a new front nose cone. Again, original had a dent and let it down At work, together with Monza Phil's Victor

Very nice. Your plans seem very VW for the modifications and I'm not sure I can see them working, but it'll be interesting to see what happens as you're clearly taking good care of her at the moment.

Are those TWR wheels? They look most excellent . I've a lot of love for this thread, it's making me all misty-eyed for my old Marina fastback now
