Following on from the hand made Christmas gifts thread I thought I would start one for these Here's my first attempt made from a 1975 2p. I just wanted to see if I was up to it! And here is my most recent (finished it tonight actually) its a 1960 half CROWN I'm making for my dad. That's all for now but I think I'll be making one from a 2 shilling coin before Christmas. As always comments and questions welcome Colin.

They look great. Seems a shame that once on they look like any normal ring though and doesn't show the skill and patience or the raw material that's gone into them?

In fact, it is true. Hopefully it will still be a conversation pirce and if I were the wearer it would still be shown off till people got tired of me. Great rrsult ..... Again Colin. I am very impressed.

Proper job that, you have a serious amount of patience and hammering accuracy

Monty you are right, but I like that they only really have a special meaning to the person wearing them. I plan to give them to my mum and dad this year for Christmas (coins from there year of birth) I’m sure they will be chuffed with them because they are hand made and a bit different.
Thanks for the comments folks, I am enjoying doing them.

Thats about it really, but I used a panel hammer and a dolly, used a file to remove the centre and sanded/polished it up

Very nicely done buddy,
I wear one made from a 1949 silver 2 shilling (i think from memory) my dad made it for my mum in the 60's, its her birth year. I keep meaning to have a go at making one myself, one day.

Those look ace! I live in a flat and have arsey neighbours below so noise tends to be an issue so no hammering at night Solution = hammer and dolly stored in my car and I'm not bored on my lunch breaks any more ;D

I'm really impressed! How long do you have to spend tapping away?
It's hard to believe you could do it with a spoon.

These are quite neat and go to show how malleable the material is.

Cairyhunt - they take my about 3 evenings to do, So i would say there is about 10 hours in each ring. In other coin related news - finished! Thats a Two Shilling ring and Half CROWN ring for my parents Christmas gifts. Quite pleased with how they have turned out

I wonder if you could make an inside-out ring by drilling out the middle of a coin and rolling some shaped rods around the inside of it.
