The little blue light that tells you the main beams are on, if that's not working (and you rely on oncoming drivers to let you know that you're not dipped) is it a MOT fail?
Changing to a speedo that won't have the blue warning light!
Thanks (and I'm joking about the oncoming drivers!)

Yeah it's a fail. Just add a light externally somewhere.

Section 1.7 4 c of the MOT inspection manual says.
Method of Inspection = on vehicles first used on or after 1 april 1986, the "tell tale" illuminates when main beam is selected
The relavent RFR = the tell tail does not illuminate when main beam is selected.
The above is taken straight from the VOSA MOT inspection manual for private passenger and light commercial vehicle testing. Issue date 01 January 2012.
As far as I take that the colour of the light should not matter and if the car was built before 1st of april 1986 one is not required.

I fitted a green one to a car as it was all I had to hand and it went through the MOT no problem.

Thanks, it's a 1969 car, so not needed.
