Hi I finally gave in and visited this forum as everyone keeps mentioning it and i like it so though i'd share my car with you.
So here it is a nightfire red montego countryman estate.
Only it's not quite standard!!
I bought it off someone who had already had the forged Rover T series turbo engine fitted, however due to personal reasons he ended up breaking it for parts and by the time i bought it i was only really buying the engine which was destined to refresh my already converted MG Maestro.
Trouble is after picking this up i decided as well as being a far more practical family car it was in far better condition then my MG and most of what i needed i had on the MG so the 2 cars became one until it looked a bit like this.
Obviously nothing is as straight forward as it seems and i had quite a few teething problems but i'm slowly getting there now i'm happy with it runing standard boost so i'm going to start turning things up a bit and head for the magic 300bhp.
I took it to shakespeare county raceway last year and but it was a steep learning curve and the car didn't really play ball so the best i got was a 15.6 when it should easilly be in the 14's but i'll be going back again soon and hoping maybe for 13's if i'm lucky.
The rest of the year this is my daily driver even using all 7 seats sometimes, so its no show car and gets a lot of use.
List of mods so far:
Rover coupe half leather front seats
MGF alloy wheels
PAW 280 mm Big brake kit
goodridge brake lines
all new poly bushes and ball joints
Avo lowering springs and KYB dampers
custom homemade double length intercooler
triple core alloy radiator with twin slimline fans wired to the rover ecu
T28 turbo
arias forged pistons
Home made 2.5" exhaust without cat
apexi air filter
and i'm sure lots of other bits i cna't remember!
To Do list
Fit boost controller
fit DTA ECU
Fit custom turbo elbow to aid exhaust flow
by and fit wideband lambda
finish getting the tail pipe on the exhaust to fit and look right
fix leaking sump thanks to speed humps!
then get the rear arches replaced and tidy a few other bits on the bodywork.
Hope you like it, but if you don't i do which is what really counts! lol
