1989 MK1 Toyota MR2 1.6 Twin Cam 16v
White
105,000 Miles
Mot until July next year
Still got a bit of tax on it (end of November).
No advisory items whatsoever on the MOT.
This car is an absolute peach. 23 years old and feels as tight as a drum, not so much as a single rattle or squeak.
Interior looks, feels and even smells like it's never been sat in, not a mark on the seats, the plastics are in superb shape, I can't see any marks on it at all. Probably the only bit of wear I can see is a small amount on the gear gaiter. Even the leather on the steering wheel barely looks worn. It's a seriously well screwed together car this! Carpets are excellent. Still has original Toyota Rubber mats which protect the carpet nicely and collect all the much, yet are very easy to wash down.
Bodywork is excellent for a car of this age. It's not without a few tiny blemishes, but far less than you'd expect of a car of this age. It's had new front wings and just had new rear arches and the rear lower corner pieces which tend to go very scabby. This was a pukka professional repair using quality handmade steel panels, no cheap rubbish or nasty filler repairs here.
The wheels are in nice, straight shape, but in order to bring them up to their best they are one thing which would benefit from a rub down and paint. Tey're not too bad at all, but brought up to A1 would be about the only thing needed to really give the exterior a big lift.
Brakes are great. Rebuilt calipers all round, recent disks and pads.
Also has recent shocks and springs.
Good tyres all round.
It has a remarkable amount of equipment fitted for a small sports car of this age. Electric windows, central locking, electric mirrors etc etc and absolutely everything works as it should.
The car starts first time, every time without any hesitation. Doesn't smoke, leak or anything untoward. It drives absolutely A1 and feels unbelieveably solid and chunky for such a small, light and nimble car.
It's so cleverly-packaged as well. The amount of storage space inside such a small cabin and the way the instruments are housed is quite wonderful. The lines are so painfully retro inside and out, I just love the interior.
Any other info you require please don't hesitate to ask. I can possibly deliver this car for a very reasonable cost within mainland UK. I'm looking for £1400 and no less. I think that's already very reasonably priced and I'm sure it's the best MK1 MR2 out there for that money. It's a great blend of retro and modern and would be more than up to everyday usage, it feels absolutely bombproof in every respect.
Not looking for any swaps or anything as I'm only selling due to having too many projects on the go which I need to start spending more time on, especially over winter. I'd already got too many on the go and now I've just bought a car which needs fully stripping, rebuilding and preparing for hillclimbing next season, plus I've just bought a Hillman Imp for resto, so this list is getting longer, so I need to slim down my collection somewhat. But that said, I have no need to sell, but I think at £1400 it really is a steal for someone.
The car is completely bog standard to original specification with the exception of a modern face-off CD player with Aux port for iPod etc.
Anyway, I'll shut up and let the pictures do the rest of the talking for now:
Cheers
Mike
