I am going for something simple:). Does it have a fuel filter in the engine bay? If so, is there petrol present inside?
Does the car even attempt to fire, or is it simply turning over?
Do you have a spark at the spark plugs? If not, how about the coil? Does your dizzy cap still have the spring loaded carbon pin present in the centre? Is there any voltage present at the LT coil connections with the ignition at No.2?

Have you tried new condensor ? When flipping the points open with screwdriver a decent condensor will stop a big spark however if bright spark then it's a rough indication the condensor is duff.

Since no-ones said it yet I'm going to suggest the rotor arm. They can die suddenly and you won't get any life at all from a dead one as it shorts the spark straight to earth via the dizzy shaft.

Out of fuel? Tank breather blocked? Is it fuel or spark related?

I've fixed it... None-Visible Crack in the Rotor arm, lucky for me I had a used one in a box in my vast spares collection. Fired straight up. Odd that it would start then cut out after a few minutes on the old one though... Cheers for your help lads...

I had this issue on my VW Beetle. But that was a resistor item. As I was desperate to fix it (and it was a weekend) I soldered a bit of wire onto the top of the arm. It fired up first time.
