Well, I keep putting it off but the time has come
My 205 is for sale. Have a look in my thread for a 6 year epic on the trials, tribulations and general abuse that we have been through together, but to save you reading through 10 pages of my ramblings here's a quick version.
1988 205 Gti 1.6 with the following;
Chassis
Polybushed front suspension
No PAS
1.9 calipers on 1.6 discs
Front lowered on 40mm springs
1.9 engine fitted with 1.6 flywheel on original 1.6 gearbox
Quick shift
Rerouted intake pipework and after market airfilter
modified exhaust, single rear backbox (A bit loud, but should be ok for trackdays at 105db
16 inch alloys (Anteras) with Toyo Proxes, loads of tread fitted using 20mm hub centric spacers
Refurbed rear beam, lowered 40mm
Body/interior
All side plastics removed and rare Rallye arches fitted
Dents (Lots!!)
Sunroof removed and plated with alloy sheet
All interior removed or chopped down. No stereo but the heater remains. Dash flocked with Frost kit. Not as good as a pro job, but I was happy with it.
No carpets, just a bit of anti slip/board tape for the drivers side.
Perspex door cards (Look good-ish!)
Perspex rear windows
Battery relocated to the boot in fibreglass box
I still have the original alloys available (Tyres aren't very good, but they'll go back on if I don't get a decent price!!)
Original 1.6 engine. This was whipped out when the head gasket went, and I had every intention of rebuilding it and sticking it back in on bike carbs! I haven't changed the paperwork (Ssshh!)
It has MOT (Mar 13) and Tax (Jan 13), about 167,000 miles on the clock
Honestly? From anything closer than 15 yards it looks rough as a badgers and has plenty of dents and scratches and the front valance is a bit knackered (I cut it about, fitted mesh in place of the fogs. It looked brilliant and then I had a bit of a towing incident! There's a spare one of those as well!
But, it flies ;D I drove it to Prescott. It broke down at the gate but after a new rotor arm and dizzy cap it went up the hill (4 times) and back home again and then did 50 odd laps in the hands of me, my brother and my sister in law on a Woodbridge airfield track day with barely a whimper (minor clutch adjustment was all that was needed) and then home again!
It is not concours, and TBH never will be, but if you want a car that you're not worried about pranging (which makes a track day much more enjoyable, let me tell you ) this is it. Oh, and it's not just a track car, I used it to commute in for a year ;D
Feel free to ask questions, come and have a spin and make silly offers (No harm in asking!!) No swaps unless someone has a small fibreglass car with a diddy engine, but the whole point of this going is so that I can concentrate on the van. Reality has finally hit me
The original Gti rim has gone back on now, much better to drive with.
On track at Woodbridge airfield
I am not desperate, but I am realistic Make me an offer.
