the trekker:
I put this up for sale half heartedly a few months ago but now with a mk1 Golf and T25 joining the fleet this just isnt going to get finished.
I've owned this a little over a year, previous to that it was locally owned and sat untouched for 6 years. I can trace and supply owner details for a good few years back, at least the last two owners which account for roughly 8 years
(I personally think its good to know where a vehicle has come from) I have the full V5 in my name.
I will be losing a good deal of money on this so the price is the price, I really really don't want to break this and sell it as parts but money talks ultimately.
Although prices are all over the place the cheapest ive seen recently on the road was around £2650, i'd consider the £1k difference to be enough of a bargain for someone who can weld.
so what we have:
Trekker floor with new pans, this has been sanded down and covered with Hammerite smooth, it looks great and tbh is much nicer than my Q Bal one.
Trekker body which will require welding, pics will hopefully detail this better but ultimately it needs both sills and a little bit here and there elsewhere, the sills are the major part of the welding though, once this is done i'd say a good 90% of the welding would be ticked off.
1 good bonnet
4 good doors with minor rust on door bottoms
great windscreen top
good hood, one minor cut in the rear screen but overall a nice useable hood
2 good bumpers
4 wings, 3 are in good condition but one will require work (its the black one)
1 good decklid
front seats are original and in good condition
rear bench, one part is good, the other has a rip in (cant remember if its bottom or back though)
1 gearbox untested
1 engine untested but will need a good overhaul
1 wiper motor again untested but should work
1 pedal set
1 wiper and connector bar set with wipers
1 front beetle beam
1 disc brake set up
4 weller wheels, will need refurb and new rubber
4 good condition windows, one has a small hole in
1 fuel tank
most if not all wiring is there, i've certainly not messed with any of it
what I know is missing
most obviously is the sills, i've started using these on my other Trekker so new sills are needed, i've contacted Euro Car Parts in the last week or so and had email confirmation that they can still get them, they are on a 3 week delivery and are £75 each give or take a few quid. I'm happy to forward this email onto anyone to prove this as I know there are concerns they are only available abroad at mega money nowadays.
the screen rubber, ive lost it somewhere. I think the missus has thrown it away but cant be sure grrrrr
screen bottom, again not a cheap part but can be fab'd up if you follow Zombies build thread. Sigi has a rusty one he was going to let me have so thats still a possible.
personally if you can weld or know someone who can then this could be a very cheap way to own a cool Trekker. The mojo has sadly gone on this one for me.
Ive said already but I don't want to break it, its too good to do that.
ive got loads of pics and happy to photo anything else I havent covered. I'm not in this to rip anyone off at all, I just want to recoup some of my spend and move on with my other Trekker.
Car is in Doncaster and can be viewed anytime
