So, i'm gonna be looking to get a little more power out of my 1043cc polo engine. Not a lot, just want a few extra horses to have a laugh with.
I will be looking to fit a gt cam, and a decent stainless exhaust manifold.
the other things i have though about are head work, skimming flywheel and carb options.
would it be worth skimming the head to increase the compression? also maybe get the dremmel on the head, port matching and smoothing and what not. is there any other head work to think about?
also thinking about getting a bit of weight taken off the flywheel to get it more rev happy. Is this worth doing? also where would i take it to get it done properly?
in terms of carbs, what options do I have? I'm currently running the infamous pierburg 1b3, which i have rebuilt twice, got running really nicely, with manual choke conversion, but it takes a couple of weeks to return to stuttering, hesitating, and losing torque.
ive found a weber replacement which seems the easiest and apparently they're much simpler to work with. but with the other mods would it be best to try something else? maybe the weber carb for a 1.3? or ive heard people use the dtmrs from 1.6 golfs?
