Hi! I bought recently an Opel Monza which I'll show in the forum as soon as I repair a few things. The most important now is to repair the vent hoses in the fuel tank. I haven't found any manual image, instructions, etc. I only have this image of some one who installed an Opel Omega A caravan fuel tank in his Opel Monza. Can someone tell me if the installation is correct? What's the part number and installation of the valve that you can see on the lower part of the image? The installation I did myself is similar to this one but when I open the fuel tap I can see there's a different in the pressure inside and outside the fuel tank. That's why I believe something is badly installed. Thanks in advance!

I too have this question, especially where does the hose coming from the tee piece go, we see it at the top of the above picture, it appears to be going towards the connection that is used by the hose from the filler pipe. Tubes were loose/broken when we dropped the tank on my son's Monza.

Are most of those small-bore pipes just vent pipes, to prevent airlocks given the shape of the tank?

Yes they are vent pipes however there is only one connection out of site at the top of picture & that is connected to the line that runs around the edge of the tank from the filler neck, the line coming from the tee piece has nothing to connect to although in the picture it appears to go to the same place.

If they're all vents, then surely all you need to do is connect them all together somehow? If you don't have an extra spot in the top corner (as in the photo) then surely you just don't need that T-piece? Or add another T-piece at the top outlet so you have the two pipes to connect as in the photo?

Agreed, the picture is of someone else's car however our car also has this tee piece, we end up with one more hose than we have connections for.

Someone on Autobahnstormers supplied info, it appears that whoever fitted the new tank had incorrectly fitted an air breather hose to the tank & left the correct hose connected to nothing.

Hi, ISTR that at one time fuel tanks were required to be vented through charcoal filters which over time usually got discarded or bypassed. Perhaps that is what happened here because they had more than one connection.

I don't think that the Monza had a charcoal filter, from what I now understand it is simply a line to a high point with a one way valve where it joins the filler, it allows air into the tank as fuel is used but does not allow fuel out in the event of the car overturning.
