Up for sale is my 1987 1.4 (5 speed) Ford Fiesta Ghia. The car was owned for 20+ years by an elderly woman who lived and owned a nightclub in St Austell, Cornwall. She did less than a 10 mile round trip each day to her nightclub, leaving the car in a carpeted garage when she wasn’t using it. More recently a local man bought it from her to use as a run a round for a couple of years until selling it to another local man who also used it as a run a round. The next owner after him being me. I did roughly a 700 mile round trip to buy the car. I drove it back on the 350 mile return trip with out fault and the car cruised at 70mph happily.
The car is currently on 23,6XX miles from new, these are genuine miles. It has not been round the clock.
The car benefits from a 5 speed gearbox due to having a CVH engine fitted from the factory at extra cost. CVHs in non XR spec MK2’s are rare. The 1.4 is 75bhp as standard with a book top speed of 101mph, which means it will sit at 70-80mph on the motorway all day long whilst still returning roughly 40mpg. The car is surprisingly quick for what it is.
For its last mot all it needed was a rear license plate as the plate on there was the original dealer plate and one of the letters had gone grey from water ingress.
The reason this is up for sale (as well as my 1.4S) is because I have accepted a job in central London so will no longer need either of my cars as I will being moving to London within the next for weeks.
Viewing is encouraged as I am not willing to accept an offer over the phone/email/PM. I would prefer anyone interested to view the car and then make an offer. I have put the price up as nearest offer but I have a price that I won’t go below and its not far off what it is advertised for.
Wheels
13x6J RS Snowflakes in good condition. There is a match spare that needs a refurb.
Correct ghia wheel bolts
165/55/13 nankangs all round. All with plenty of tread. The front passengers side has scrubbed out on the outside but is still legal.
Suspension
Standard shocks which are currently fitted with cut 50mm springs.
The car also comes with Jamex 35mm springs, which give a more subtle drop.
Adjustable panhard rod
Engine
K&N filter
Magnex S/S 4-1 exhaust manifold
Magnex S/S exhaust. The rear section was bought new 4 months ago from a NOS sale.
Chrome rocker cover
Chrome coil pack holder
Clear dizzy cap
There is some blue smoke when started from the exhaust if the car is stood for while. It does not burn oil whilst running. This could be sorted by either fitted a oil catch tank or fitting the original airbox (supplied) It doesn’t bother me so I just left it as is.
Interior:
Appart from a few scratches on top of the dash and small tear if the rear door card the interior is in excellent condition, as you’d expect with a car of this mileage. It is all standard apart from an XR2 steering wheel which is a good upgrade over the flimsy standard wheel. Being a ghia it benefits from a high spec dash, which includes a rev counter. It also has a standard roof mounted clock and velor seats as standard.
I.C.E.
13” JBL GTO in the front doors
16” JBL GTO hidden the rear quarters
JVC CD headunit. Front USB/aux in. rear pre outs for sub/amp.
The speaker loom has been re wired with good quality wire and the standard speaker joystick has been by passed as it destroys the sound quality.
Exterior
The car is finished in metallic willow green. This was an optional extra when bought new.
Standard apart from a few stickers, which are easily removed if they are not to your taste. All the original chrome is there as if left the factory.
The headlights currently have yellow tinted bulbs, which are brighter than standard bulbs as well as giving a yellow euro look.
Body work
Both rear arches, like most mk2s are scabby. They never bothered me as they aren’t too noticeable as its on the lip in the arch and not on the quarter panel.
The boot lid has rust on the lower inside corners of the rear screen on both sides. You can’t see it from the outside and is hardly noticeable from the inside, in fact I didn’t notice when I bought the car. I only noticed it a few days after. I have a rust free boot lid in the same colour as the car to go with it. The reason I never fitted it was the rust didn’t bother me, as it couldn’t be seen from the outside.
