Hi all. I've recently got a compressor, its a junair 50 litre jobbie, whisper quiet one.
Its says in all the literature and bumf on the internet and in product pdf's etc to only use junair SJ-27 oil. So I bought a bottle for £13 + postage, all rounded up to £25. There's 2 oil resevoirs, both with glass windows, the bottle I bought didn't even make it up to the minimum mark !! I assume I'll have to spend another £50 to get it to an operational level, which could definately be better spent elsewhere.
I spoke to the fella at machine mart and he informed me that a good quality synthetic, mineral car oil ( might be for gearbox, diff etc) should work perfectly as a cheaper substitute.
The compressor oils they sell at the mart, were 40 and 30 ( not sure what its a measure of) but the fella said, not sufficient quality for a quiet running compressor.
So The question really is I suppose, has anyone had any experience with replacing SJ-27 oil, or similar compressor oil ? Or any info for a complete newb.
