Hi folks Slightly obscure question - I have a Jag Mk2 which has disgraced itself by jamming its starter motor. I need to drag it out of the lock up garage so I can get it fixed. Does anyone know where one can attach a tow rope to the front, as like most old cars there are no towing eyes. Thanks in advance. Cortinaman

Tricky..... i had to use a solotow on my old 250v8 to avoid damaging the bodywork......can you access the bumper bolts? If you can remove the front bumper, and make a new bumper iron with a tow hook ....
hope this helps......or just get a few mates to help push it?

I would try the bumper irons but be warned that they may get bent in the process....

Or over simplify the problem, long long rope, around the rear axle, and under a wooden block under the front sub, then tow as low as possible on the tractor......this should keep the rope from fouling the bodywork

Thanks chaps - in the end I put a strop round the cross member which just cleared the front valance - so no trouble there. I could have done without the dozy woman trying to drive between the jag and the tow vehicle on a roundabout though!

Hence why tow ropes are illegal to use on the public highway.....
before some one jumps up and says "well why are they allowed to sell them?", they are only supposed to be for pulling out of ditches etc, not towing a car at 30mph with a 16th of the required stopping distance.
