Ohh Bahh y'all
I've just shaken hands on a volvo 940, wont get it for 3 weeks though. The car is a 2.3 non turbo running on petrol and lpg. Since volvo stuff is mostly interchangeable I'm going to fit a turbo using bits of a 940 donor (ideally I'd like to fit the whole turbo engine to save hassle but since the car will soon be my daily thats not possible)
I do have experience with volvo turbos etc as I've re-built a few of them but it's the LPG and a turbo that baffle me. I was hoping to get close to 300hp at some point but howdoes lpg correspond with tuning and will the lpg work with a turbo'd engine that was previously n/a
All replies will be re-paid with love and biscuits at RRG 2013

Regarding turbocharged petrols, some people have noted no difference between petrol and LPG, and sometimes a power increase (LPG RON is around 110RON IIRC compared to 95 of Premium unleaded (or 98/99 if on Tesco Momentum or Shell VPower).
Between petrol and LPG on an NA car, the difference should be next to nothing in terms of power (maybe slightly less on petrol), although LPG consumption might be slightly heavier than that of petrol (15% less it seems).

940 turbos are so cheap it seems pointless trying to add the turbo to a non turbo car, it will cost you more money than buying a turbo in the first place, don't forget you'll need the ECU, intercooler, all the plumbing and wiring, exhaust, brackets etc etc.
Save up and buy a turbo.

Well thats the problem, turbo's are so cheap now but I've had my eye on this car since I first spotted it 2 years ago. It's a black estate with gunmetal grey ronal alloys.

You will need to re tune the LPG a lot to get it to run efficiently and correctly, but once done it will run fine on a turbo or NA car, this only costs about £25 at most LPG conversion garages so not a big deal. if would be worthwhile looking at a more substantial tuning to maximize the performance on gas.
the biggest problem you will have is the reliability of the LPG components, i assumed that the bits fitted to the N/A engine will not be rated high enough for the power you are going for. Check all the components and the recommended power output.

Get yourself onto the volvo owners club forum if your not already there. I have a 740, and it has been very helpful so far.

Most LPG kits will come with their own rating as said . Generally speaking the 'Super' marked kits on the AEB based systems are good enough for most 4 pot turbocharged cars .
