Just thought id share this little gem with you guys, bought in jan of this year as a "weekend resto" intended as a stop gap until the Roma is done (yes still got it). Turned into a massive restoration as it had rotted everywhere.. looking good now though I think see what you reckon As found, fresh off the back of Minidans delivery wagon after rebuilding the brakes (crusty cylinders all round) and changing the transmission as it had siezed it got to a state where it moved under its own steam (clicky) welding then commenced both front wings were damaged around the headlight holes cills were very crusty new metal in bottoms of rear wings (favourite rot spot on B-type dafs) being an estate car it had rot around all the rear window holes which someone had made an attempt to do before rear corner missing 3 patches just to make the oiutside profile three on the insde ! (and its not even seen) bottom of window dividers back in steel rather than the lightweight "fresh air" drivers side no better yummy jack handle for the win on the radius drivers cill non-existent inside inner repaired and outer folded up

ill get some pics of her today after a wash ;D we got the MOT sadly not in time for the Essex daf weekender, got advised on a low tyre and front number palte being a bit damaged (but not in a way likely to effect it being read) and have since put 200 miles on it.. ;D for those with a daf fetish and who are into a long read there is a full 20 odd page resto thread for her here, showing the welding in depth and all the other headaches I have had with it, I condensed it for here as just copy pasting a thread over doesnt work too well with all the convo inbetween the reports essexdafs.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=introduction&action=display&thread=141&page=1I don't know about the ride height either.. as someone who normally wouldnt lower a car drastically even I must admit it sits like a 4x4 at the moment, it has leaf at the back and transverse leaf across the front.. and I don't think losing a couple of inches at either end would go amiss to be honest..

Lowering that one shouldn't be too hard as unlike the earlier models suspension movement doesn't change the angle of the secondary pulleys. I think you can even get lowering blocks for them but I'm not sure where from

Very nice work indeed on the welding repairs. It's a stroke of luck all the outside bits were good enough for a good clean-up.

You can get minilites made for them or try 66 GlS wheels. Howard made an equiry about the minilites and got this response. "Hi Howard Thank you for your enquiry. We can supply 5.5x13 Minilite wheels for the DAF at £82.50 each + vat. Regards Russ"

340 front hubs fit onto your spindles, you'd have to convert to front disks though. Rear hubs and drums of a 340 also are a straight swap. Instant 4x100 PCD, yay!

so your saying I could literally do a nut and bolt conversion to 4x100 would the original master cylinder handle discs? or would I need to find a v66 one?

hi Paul, that very picture of the orange ovlov estate was originally my work plan, but it went astray when I found a picture of a marathon saloon sporting the smaller stripe, but yes those wheels are the dogs danglies. . Matt would 15mm aluminium be thick enough to make hub adapters out of? as got a 4ft square of it knocking about at work...
