Right I might have just laid my hands on a new mini supercharger and am either going to bolt it onto the minx's std engine or a daimler V8. Anyway does anyone know if the eaton charger can take a fuel air mix or whether it needs modifying? If it does I'll get hold of a turbo carb and a blow off valve and do it that way. Cheers!

it can do, but aparnetly reduces the life of the coating on the rotors... which some would say means you cant do it, but aparently it will still last a fair while (depending on who you ask between 10-50k miles)

Could you not take it apart and get it all recoated in something which could handle it? Or would this cost more than buying another which can already handle it?

The daimler V8 uses SU's does it not? Run it with metro turbo SU's on there blow through with an intercooler. Ace plan though Check out this page for my supercharger calculator - www.turbominis.co.uk/up/calculator_-_supercharger-1.xlsyou can change the blue boxes to get the setup similar to your own Cheers J

I've got one sitting for the girlfriends Alto - had big plans for the Alfa GTV or Trioooomphs - but it simply ain't big enough for the job on either of them. That's why all the CooperS buyers go get the upgraded ones! The Alto is a piddlin little rev happy J lump though - so I can destroy that instead! ;D There are kits out there - and the Daimler V8 is renowned for stupid outputs when blown...... but it'll be pricay fella I went out and bought a Merc SLK version for the Alfa - it's back in UK at my folks place..... waiting ....... patiently

Daimler V8s a bit of a boat anchor n'est pas? I've read a couple of tuning guides on them but both kinda read like "don't bother". I used to know a guy building a Daimler V8 powered MG ZA but sadly I lost touch with him before it was finished.

Not sure on the boat anchor opinion - I read it was the better of that and the venerable XK....... and was used in drag motors to produce serious numbers! This was a long way back though and you can't believe all the magazine piffle! Tonight will see a magazine search and see if I can find the article...... ;D (ANY EXCUSE TO GO THROUGH 'EM ALL AGAIN!) The writer quoted "It's the historic version of todays Lexus V8 - over engineered and a bottom end that would survive a direct hit from an rpg" - he did skim over the antifreeze, alloy clogging and imminent destruction part though! Anyone knows any different then please let me know - as I was thinking of one for an engine swap!

I have a Hot Car magazine from 1979 which has the most comprehensive build up article on the Daimler lump I've seen. I can scan it for you if you like.

Ive got a merk SLK blower from the 2.3 on the imp, its an eaton M45 same as the bini blower. The 'uprated' mini superchargers are just a ported version of the stock unit.

i see thats interesting, there is plenty of posibility for porting cos the casting is pretty rough, and I'd love a copy of that article might come in V useful

Blownimp - you know which was used on which models? I know the M45 is rated up to 3.0ish litres but I thought the 280or 320CLK ( wrong model possibly - it was a long time ago off've flea-bay ) used the M62..... - have to check that now. Which of course is not easily done as it's sitting in a box at my folks place back in blighty! DOH!

here we go - Endyn blower stuff here - www.Theoldone.com/Supercharger porting info - www.theoldone.com/articles/blowers-and-howto.htmlGood info on the effects of turning up the psi on a stock blower, shows all the porting and bits - www.theoldone.com/articles/damaged%2Dblower/ Porting involves blueprinting the inlet and outlet orifices to the manufacturers intended operational limits, the timing of the casings are quite conservative. The inlet and outlet can be ground back to the 120 degree limit that the lobe timing dictates, all the edges rounded, and the inlet/outlets taken out to the edges of the rotors. the pictures say it a lot better! Cheers mate this is very useful stuff, I'll have a look into the capacity of the charger cos fitting one will be a bit easier than 2, but two would look good wouldn't it!
