Hi All,
I have a 1970's sprite ariel caravan I am starting to renovate. It currently has a leisure battery with lights hooked up to it. I want to see if I can install an electric hook up and install plugs etc.
I have no idea where to start with this, does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks

You need a proper caravan instellation and I would highly reccomend you get a proffesional in as mnay caravan sites are getting picky asking for your electrical test certificate and also gas test cert

lol, you wouldn't even need to "install" it. Just have it in a cupboard, and throw the cable out of the window to hook it up.
Would work even better if you had a squishy window seal, so you could close the window when it rains too!
If it's only small, and you wouldn't mind it... that could be the best option. Saves any certification hassle too, as it's just an E-marked electrical item, that's NOT fitted to the caravan

i have had a load of vans over the years and i will say this hand on heart leave your lights on the battery but fit 1 or2 to 240v. always pays to have back up lights and i always take gas cookers n heaters out. i replace them with electric items £30-40 sees you with 2 ring hob and a decent blow heater . thats about the price of a gas bottle refill. most sites you pay per day for electric may as well use it and cut expess of gas out aswell

I'm no sparks but given some of the site hookups iv seen over the years its a surprise that they'd pass inspection Have to agree tho...if your asking you probably shouldnt be doing

Ah thats great thanks - I will just get one of these then. Yes its really small its only 10 foot long. At present it just has 2 lights in and a gas cooker. Thats definiteley worth considering about removing the cooker then hmmmmmm
