best way to lower a anglia and fit discs? any advice?
ive seen coil over convertions on mk 2 cortina struts. i was wondering if you could convert anglia struts. ive seen coilover kits which are just treaded tubes that you weld on. i would like the anglia to sit about 2 inches or lower, ive sseen anglias lowered two inches and i wouldnt mind it lower to be honest haha. also i was wondering how low you could go on leafs with lowering blocks?
cheers...

the anglias on a steering box. i know that milton convert mk2 cortina struts to coilovers but in not sure how low you can go and the 400 quid plus exchange struts! ive seen people modifiy stock sruts to air bags but not on a 105e.. yet

Hi, back in the day we used classic struts to get disc brakes. Colin and a lot of people used to re drill the x member to fit a classic TCA too not realising they were altering the steering geometry. The simple fix there would have been to use a mk2 Cortina TCA, as it works out the right length. Sadly that's an expensive fix these days, as Mk2 TCA's cost a lot of money. The world has moved on since then. I've just converted a set of Mk2 Struts to coil overs using the weld on kits for my Corsair. I used capri inserts as they're 2" shorter. Meant shortening the strut body to suit. Not beyond the wit of man. I see you've asked the question on 105speed as well, which is probably the best place for Anglia advice.

that seems like a good way with the capri inserts, do you know if the geometry of the mk2 strut is right or do they change the stub axles at milton ? that seems the easyist way of modifing mk 2 struts then i could weld on coilover threads on to make the springs smaller to fit in the anglia turrets...

yeah I think I'm going to do most of the bits myself struts I can do and I think ill by a second had escort rack and mount it of the crossmember the milton stuffs a hell of alot of money for stuff I could do myself :l If you're going to use an Escort rack then you will have to use Escort struts,column,x-member and TCAs too. This will also move the engine back by a couple of inches so you will have to cut the bulkhead for clearance and move the gearbox mounting back and fit a shorter prop. This will also affect things like carbs and exhaust because they will be move back as well. The reason the Milton steering conversion costs what it does is because you get a custom made x-member,a custom made steering rack, custom made steering column and custom made TCAs that simple bolt onto the car without any further mods being necessary,it's all been carefully developed over many years on both race and road cars as a direct replacement for the steering box. I recommend spending several hours reading through numerous threads on 105speed where this subject has been gone into in great detail. Hths.

ahh thats more work than i was expecting, as always i reckon ill leave the rack then i think it was your thread where you converted struts to coilovers that i saw, i think I'm going to do the same and leave the steering along, apart from tca's ect...

Anglia68 has given you the best advice. tbh. I saw your reply about moving spindles up the strut tube etc on the 105speed. Sorry it doesn't really work like that. Like wise you cant just throw a rack on unless you understand steering geometry either. Milton use the existing spindle of the mk2 strut. It is a different angle to the original Anglia, hence why you have to use the associated parts. Yes there maybe parts you can do yourself, but please read a few threads first otherwise you will end up in all sorts of problems. The Anglia unfortunately is runt of the Ford family of that time suspension wise, so nothing is direct interchange from other models without a knock on effect else where.
