I'm throwing an engine and gearbox into my Standard Eight that used to run an electronic speedometer, the problem i have is the speedo in my Standard is of the machanical type, and a very nice bakerlite unit it is as well.
Now i don't want to have an electronic speedo in my car, is there anyway to run a mechnical drive from say the propshaft or a hub and have the speedo recalibrated?
Is there something out there to do this? My googling only brings up meachnical to electronic converters

I haven't got the car here to check, but I thought 8s/10s had a speedo drive off of one of the front hubs?

Gearbox will be the Suzuki Cappuccino one, though the Cappo picks up its speed from a sensor in the rear diff, just to be awkward!
Ben, i'm pretty sure (at least on my 8) the speedo picks up from the tail of the gearbox, well i def screwed in a cable there, so thats my figuring!
