andy you should do what I do, where ever I take my turbo imp out and worrying about where I park it, I carry a bar with the right size socket on to take the steering wheel off compleatly! hahaha, Iv walked around liverpool shopping carrying my steering wheel :-) and walk into work saying its an anti theft device!!!! :-) Its worth doing just for the looks you get off people!
Cheers Chris

mine got taken from outside my house a few months ago. i spent all morning hunting and found it abandond in a field. unfortunately i have to drive it everyday (i secretly love it ) and it lives on the street, needless to say the steering wheel and king-lead come off everynight and i've got one of those gearstick to handbrake locks. they'd have to come with a flatback, be 'tooled up' and be damn quick to have it again

P£ssed up kids id imagine, looking for a free ride home, or something easy to pinch to razz round in and smash up. They probably went on to pinch somone elses car after they gave up on yours.

i only noticed it today as i havent really been in the car since i pushed it back on my drive,my conclusion was that they probably thought "well if we can have it nobody will " and failed in arson as badly as they failed in the theft itself

Definitely not stolen to order. I used to live next door to a Cosworth collector. He said most to order thefts would just be a case of straps round underneath it and lift it onto a flat-bed. That way you can whip it fairly quick and then dismantle locks, alarms, immoblisers etc. at your lesiure without doing damage.

The position of that burn looks like the result of serious post mexican problems!!
Glad you got it back mostly in one piece, i had a window like that for a while, it ended up being cheaper to get perspex rear quarters in the end!

burnt seat is definatly an attempt of setting it on fire, id say you were pretty lucky that the lads who tried to knick it probably came fresh off a sunshine bus

I reckon we'll see more and more of this. More modern stuff like my lowly Fraudy Scrote have decent immobilisers so are harder to nick for the casual thief. The result is that the people who want the car rather than just a ride home will either break into your house and take the keys, or beat the curse word out of you as you get in it and take them. Joyriders will just nick older stuff as it's easier.

today ,at last, things took a turn for the better.i've managed to get the imp fixed and running.after a few false hopes being raised we managed to get the problem identified as a fried solenoid,so seeing as i had a day off today i thought i'd best sort it out,new solenoid fitted and low and behold ITS ALIVE!! after all the curse word thats been going on at work etc,and with my dad passing away soon after its been really hard to get motivated, but i had a call last night from a magazine wanting to use my car for a feature so i fired a rocket up my own and now its done.
