TBH - at least you got soco to the car! Mostly it's another - oh well, shyt happens scenario......
My old haunting grounds in Sunderland are rife with the little tw@ts, but they all seem to shun the disklok - apparently too difficult to get off for the effort - they move on.
On the soco thing - did he give you a type and size of shoe? CSI styleeeee

Yeah, I know what you mean and agree completely, we are now sadly the weakest link for opportunists. :(better than getting carjacked at gun/knife point for some plush new thing though.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

In the last few years, my partner has had her car broken into twice and I had one of mine broken into a few months ago. On two of those occasions, the SOCO chap was there in less than one hour. The first time however was another matter. My partners car was broken into in her works carpark (no CCTV ... ho hum) and left with a smashed passenger window. A quick call to the local Police was met with the suggestion 'well we will try and get someone out in the next few hours' ... it was already 8pm, dark and raining quite hard. I suggested I would take the car back to my home address (more for security than anything else, no window and an unlit carpark etc) only to receive the reply 'oh no, you cant move it ... you have to leave it where it is' ... and exactly how am I supposed to do that then ? Camp out in it overnight ? In the end I told them not to bother and hung up. Thankfully the second and third time they were needed, the service and response were excellent.

<insert suitable expletive> idiots. Must say, I've taken to using a disclock on my car now. A visible deterrent is enough to get rid of those just after an easy drive.

These people need to be stung up by their delicate bits and set on fire. Luckily with the 2CV I think the gearshift is enough of a visual deterrent, that and being seen driving a 2CV What a bunch of barstuards.

cheap PC with a decent hard drive, web cam pointing out the window (plenty of motion sensitive software available free) and a security light are what you need.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

the way the theives look at it, its an easy to steal, RWD car, something they can pretend they are out of tokyo drift or something. idiots now the smoke has stopped coming out of my ears and the shaking with rage is a bit more controlled,i've been doing some thinking, fair point it is easy to steal i concede that, given that the 3 other cars on my drive are all belled up with imobillisers from day dot,any thief worth his salt will take the easy option after all this is the prime reason for being a thief, they want the goodies without the effort.but why did the need to do so much damage, they smashed a window, had a go at smashing another window and failed, all because they couldn't pick a 41 year old door lock which can and has been opened by a spoon! and then to add insult they smashed the ignition lock when all they needed to do was reach up behind the dash and pull the wires down (which they have done also) is this the mentality of a tea leaf or am i just plain unlucky in having my car nicked by a numpty? what do people think it was anyway, numpty joyriders or nicked to order? after speaking to people its come down as 50/50 ,thoughts peeps?

sounds like kids, steal to order tend to use a truck, and don't damage the car. roll it down the street, winch it on, gone.
Having to smash a window to break into an imp.... morons! Btw, the cooked clutch, ever tried to drive a cold imp with no choke on? Full revs, slip clutch, cough, stall, try again. thats why they dumped it, they thought it was broken.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

stolen to order would have researched how to do it first! not like an imp costs the world anyway, i could see an aston or e-type being stolen to order, but if you cant afford an imp you couldn't afford to pay to have one stolen.
no offence intended, after all i'm a skoda driver. and leave it unlocked in the hope some doofer will try and be shamed lol! skoda= hardest car ever to break into, unless you know what to do with a hook of wire that is.
