Hi guys,
I've recently got myself a rover brm, but the throttle body seems to be a tad sticky. I've read it's a common issue with the plastic bodies which come standard on these. A lot of people replace them for the metal type, either the 48 or 52mm. My question is (as these are rather expensive and I'm a bit of a cheap skate!) I've found a 52mm throttle body on eBay. The advert states its from a 45/75 ZS ZT 2.0... It looks as if it's a little longer than the one I have but would this still fit? Without too much hassle anyway..
Cheers guys

Use a 52mm throttlebody from a 160 spec VVC engine - it's a direct fit. the 56mm throttlebody has been found to actually lose horsepower as the K series engine relies very much on pressure to function well. its for the same reason that de-catting the exhaust system for any K series engine is also not beneficial

just get a 48mm ally tb off a later k series car - they are much cheaper than the 52mm and they make little to no difference in power.

Would the 48mm be too big for a flowed and cammed 1400?

48mm is standard size on all k series except the vvc 160. it's good for anything up to around 180bhp then the 52mm has some benefit.

if you want better throttle response, you can remove the small brass inserts on the valve itself and fill the bolt holes with solder. a detailed guide can be found here: myothercarsa2cv.co.uk/howto/rovertb.htm

There is a 52mm ZT160 throttle body for sale for £45 on MG Rover forums and one on ebay at that price at the moment. i wouldn't exactly call that expensive! If you combine this with a better cold air induction you should see a couple more hp too
