RS motor will be pricey though.
The truth about engine conversions is that anything will go into anything if you can cut and weld.
If you wanted to you could fit a BMW V8 - probably get the car with the engine in it for not too much.
Whatever you decide to fit it would be best if you bought the whole car so you have the wiring looms, sensors and everything which is required to make the car work.

Very few engine transplants are truly "easy" even different models the same car can often need mods to get their engines swopped round.
I would imagine in your case the limiting factor is going to be the strength of your gearbox, If it will take the power of an XR3 lump, if you can find an adapter kit and if the engine physically fits in the bay then you may at least get a good starting point.
Are you confidant you can modify or make brackets for the throttle, mod the pipes from the rad to fit the ford lumep, make engine mounts, make an exhaust etc etc?

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Naa, you just take the transmission from the donor.
You make a good point RE there being more to the job than meets the eye. I bought a Saab 99 with a 16v turbo transplanted and even though it is a similar car to the donor vehicle (saab 900 16v turbo) the 99 required modifications to the engine mounts, cooling system, engine pullys and a few other things!
