Thanks for the support guys. I've calmed down now (and I've put the slide hammer away!). I phoned the Chrysler dealer for advice, as the car's been treated with Supagard, and they said that something like T-Cut will get it off, but the Supagard would have to be re-applied. To do the whole side of the vehicle would require a whole kit ( at a cost of >£200), so I'm going down the insurance route. I've got protected no-claims, so all I'll lose is the £100 excess. About a dozen cars got done in the surrounding streets, and my daughter overheard a conversation while she was waiting for the school bus, which may lead to the culprit. If I hear any more, I know where this alleged culprit lives, so if no-one else tips the Police off, I will. And if it turns out that this person (and I use that term loosely) gets done for it, I'll take his parents on in the small claims court to get my excess back.

I symathise with you. My Mrs. left her car on a busy high street for about 20 minutes in broad daylight and when she came back some sub-human scum had scratched all the way along one side + a few patterns on the door for good measure. But what can you do? The police don't care about your car unless it's doing 31mph in a 30 zone past a camera, and if you did find out who did it and gave them a good hiding you'd end up a) in the dock on a GBH charge, b) next time you go to your car it'll have no windows or be on fire c) little Johnny's dad and several large brothers turn up at your doorstep with cricket bats. And if you do end up taking the tw@t to court some smartarse brief will get it thrown out due to lack of evidence.

Love old threads ( How the Hell did that happen? It was only on page 1. Somebody must have edited a post today. The vandal scrote's probably been caught, given an ASBO and sent on a free safari holiday or go-karting course by now. Meanwhile poor old Moggyman's probably sewing mailbags in Wormwood scrubs for looking at the little f*cker in the wrong tone of voice. Ah well, I love abit of nostalgia.

Well this was an opportune moment for a thread revival. I'm Stateside at the moment and one of the guys just bought a '65 Ford F150 pickup truck. Anyhow, he parked his truck at night and when he came out in the morning the truck was further down the road..he thought he must have imagined where he left the truck. Moved the truck back to the original location went to work and came home as ususal, got up in the morning and his truck has moved yet again....moves the truck back to his normal parking space but notices that the ignition barrel has been damaged, some tools are sitting in the cab and a spare battery is in the bed. So he keeps the tools and takes the battery into the house then calls the cops to report attempted theft of vehicle. Decides to hang around before heading off for work to sort things out with police and notices 2 guys turn up and start walking around his truck. Next thing they break into the truck and he calls the police. The police arrive and they arrest the 2 guys - turns out that the "darwinian" car thieves even left the tools with their initials engraved in the tools used to try to steal the car Now back to the original problem with the mindless idiots and the car vandalism, just let it all blow over. When everybody forgets about it and you know who it was that caused the damage (for sure) buy yourself a hoodie top or some other form of clothing to disguise your ID and then go and vandalise their property. Experience IS the best teacher they say
