Anyone able to offer me advice here.
in my van ive now got a fusion compact active sub under the front seat, 6x9's in the rear and some generic door speakers.
now i want to upgrade this as i spend a lot of time in my van
so my current idea is
get an amp for the 6x9's
remove the front generic speakers and replace with some components with tweeters in the dash powered fron my headunit
my question is, will this work and sound ok?
and any recommend any cheap / second hand components for the front
thanks
Dan

Quick answer - Yes, it will work, but it will be limited by the quality of your headunit In my Merc I have a sub which is run from an amp and the front and rear speakers are off the head unit with no other amp. I'm running them from a Kenwood KRC707 tho which at the time was fairly high up in their range. (4x50W, eq's built in crossovers etc) so it is possible to 'tweak' the outputs to suit the speakers. If you only have a cheap(ish) headunit it'll sound like it

Buy an amp and power your new front components from it, thats where you sit!
Let the head unit power the 6x9's and keep them low volume - just for a bit of rear fill - as they're harsh, trashy, awful things.

Personally I'd get rid of the 6X9s and focus on the front and sub. Buy the best you can afford and fit it the best you can. Best budget way would be a four channel amp. Use two channels for the front components and bridge the other two for a sub or if you want to continue with the active sub just get a good set of components and a good amp to match.
Buying secondhand can work as it can allow you to get better quality items within your budget. Head units nowadays are usually pretty good as source units what usually lets the side down is the amplification and speakers.
