Right, I have been offered a company car and am doing loads of miles these days, so unfortunately my 1991 Volkswagen Golf Mk2 GTI 3 door in schwartz black is for sale. Its a cracking example of this iconic car, and getting hard to find in this original state.
The car has been my daily driver and has thus been lavished with new parts whenever it's needed them. It has 11 months MOT and 5 months tax.
Mechanical:
The car has done 220k miles. But I have driven cars with 60k that aren't as tight as this one. The engine has been rebuilt a few years ago and pulls fantastically well. It has had a new OEM rear exhaust fitted and there are no aftermarket bits. Is completely original. The gearbox is positive and the clutch was done a month ago for MOT. The car sits on fully adjustable coilovers so it can be easily raised if wanted. Brakes were done recently as well and have thousands of life left in them. Tyres are Toyo T1R all round and have at least 6mm each which wrap mint original BBS 15" alloys which have been refurbished. Last week I replaced both gearbox mounts as they were starting to give up. I have no doubt the car could easily do another 200k miles with ease.
Bodywork:
The bodywork is presentable. It is not as strong as the car is mechanically but for a car of this age and mileage its to be expected. There are a few dents and scuffs but there is pretty much no rust to speak of and shouldn't take much to make it mint. As its been a daily runner it hasn't bothered me. Please to read into this too much as I am very picky and want to be 100% honest. The pictures will give a good impression of the cars condition. Exterior wise the car is completely standard. It is the sunroof model which is manually operated (less to go wrong!!)
Interior:
Inside the car is very tidy and original. It has a period Sony cassette, golf ball gearknob, cloth seats which have are in mint condition, even the drivers side bolster! The only little niggle is the speedo isn't working. Am in the process of sorting this out.
Summary:
Overall this is a cracking car that could genuinely be used as a daily driver. It will surely only go up in value and if it doesn't sell it shall be kept as a weekend toy.
